What sandals for this summer?

As soon as the temperatures exceed 20 degrees, no one wants to wear closed shoes. Even if your company’s dress code — official or not — allows you to wear sandals, you must use these shoes with caution, as they quickly turn a professional outfit into a “relaxed” look.

Here are my tips on how to choose the pair of sandals you will wear to the office this summer, as well as suggestions and ideas to match to keep your professional image while letting your toes breathe. Give your feet a taste of beach vacation while spending the summer at the office!

Choosing Dressy Sandals

A simple principle: the more surface that covers the foot, the dressier the sandal will be. To stay in an urban style, bet on the right material: nice leather rather than plastic. Also avoid beads and fringes, studs, and other “connoted” accessories. The simpler, the better. Finally, in terms of color, it is preferable to limit yourself to two colors, preferably neutral, or a flashy color but strictly on a good quality model.

Extremes to avoid at the office: flip-flops and stiletto heels.

Ideally, the pair of sandals you wear to the office will be a pair that you wouldn’t wear to the beach for fear of damaging them. The height of the heel is another consideration.

Flat Sandals

Flat sandals are comfortable, making them very effective at work. The risk: they quickly look “beachy,” even if their design is elegant. On one hand, they give you a more casual approach and, above all, they make a similar noise to flip-flops when you move, which can be enough to give a bad impression at work.

Try this carefully before deciding to wear these shoes to the office. Take a few steps to determine if your chic flat sandals resemble flip-flops or are quiet enough.

You can create a chic look with good quality flat sandals. Opt for a clean design. You will find beautiful, comfortable, and luxurious models at Bobbies. Don’t forget nail polish and foot care to achieve a clean look!

High Heeled Sandals

You must be able to move easily, quickly, without suffering. But with few straps or unstable closures, your foot or ankle will not be well held, and you will be more likely to twist your ankle or trip.

So bet on a pair of shoes with a medium heel (max. 5cm) and why not a stable block heel, with thick enough straps to hold the ankle. If the model is not elegant or feminine enough for your taste, reach for color or pattern: embellished heel, colored leather, or gold like this Eram model, or a trendy laced detail this season.

If you don’t like your toes or if the dress code is quite rigid, you can opt for a model that is open and closed at the front and back. Even if you only see your heel, it doesn’t free you from the obligation to have well-groomed feet.

Take Care of Your Feet to Wear Sandals Well

No matter how many toes are visible in sandals – a pedicure is mandatory. Remove calluses on the heels, apply a special foot cream (Clarins), get your nails done. In winter, why not treat yourself to a pedicure at a salon? All you have to do is maintain it throughout the season. Toe nails are perfect for daring a little flash of paint color that exaggerates your hands, especially at work. White, black glitter, flashy pink!

If you wear new sandals for the first time on a workday, don’t forget replacement blister plasters and flat sandals in case of problems. Straps tend to cut into feet before they take their ideal shape, even if they are made from the best leather.

Match Your Sandals to Your Office Clothes

Sandals are the feminine detail of a classic office outfit. Don’t hesitate to wear them with all your outfits to add a touch of originality as I do with these three outfits featuring my golden sandals. All three outfits also work with black pumps or a more classic pair, but the golden sandals give a modern and fashionable touch to the look without leaving the office framework. Plus, you can also wear them for weddings and other ceremonies that punctuate your summer.

The only constraint with extravagant sandals is not to wear pieces that evoke a “hippie” or “vacation” look with the rest of the outfit. Beware of skirt lengths: not too short, because legs are revealed (unless you wear opaque tights with bare feet 🙂) nor very long, flowing, and printed in hippie style.

The ideal length: above the knee, with a smooth top or a blazer. If you wear jeans, opt for a shirt rather than a blouse. Keep a textured leather bag so that your overall outfit has an elegant character suitable for the city and work.
