Before Installing the Door and Its Preparation

Before you get started, make sure you have the necessary tools and materials at your disposal. Then, check your intrados and clean them if possible so that your future joints hold properly. You must now verify that the new door has the same dimensions as the old one. Protect your floor with a tarp or taped cardboard and set up the cylinder by leaving the key in the door leaf. Then operate the handle to separate the leaf from the frame. Remove the new frame from its hinges and take out the cylinder and the key by removing the three safety pins from the hinges. You also need to choose the seal for your door.

Installation and Adjustment of the Frame

Here, you need a strip or a sealant tape as well as a spirit level. If possible, apply a specific type of seal both inside and outside your frame. For the interior seal, you should choose a waterproof film, and for the exterior seal, you will apply, among other things, a pre-compressed sealing strip. Then carefully position the frame in the wall opening. With your level and washers, adjust your frame. The frame should now be screwed in. To do this, pre-drill fixing holes with your drill using a 6 mm diameter masonry or wood bit. Once that is done, ideally turn the screws with the drill so that they hold the frame securely.

Filling the Gaps, Sealing, and Installing the Leaf

Using the sealant tape like the exterior seal, you must wait for your seal to firmly adhere to the wood or masonry in place. If it is solid, you can apply the foam. This foam will serve to fill the gap between your frame and the intrados. After this filling, the front door must be sealed internally. To this end, stick the inner film onto the wood or masonry.

The final step of your installation consists of installing your leaf. This involves placing and adjusting the leaf. To do this, position the hinges of your leaf in the middle of the hinges of the frame. Reinsert the safety pins of your door. Finally, check the opening and closing of your door as well as its sealing. If the leaf sticks, you need to adjust it accordingly.
